WHY IS GLOBAL TENDER NOT ON THE DESKS OF PURA? FOREIGN INVESTORS VIA FOREIGN EMBASSIES AND TOURISM LED A.FACT FINDING MISSION TO THE GAMBIA BUT SOME INVESTORS GOT ANGRY AND ASKED THEIR AGENTS ON THE GROUND TO “FREEZE” ALL ACTIVITIES IN BANJUL. STATE HOUSE MUST NEVER TAKE OUR ADVISES HERE LIGHTLY.
PUBLIC AND/OR GLOBAL TENDER MUST ALWAYS PRECEDE ALL CONTRACTS. NOT DOING WE ARE LOSING THE PLOT LIKEWISE GOING BACK TO SQUARE ONE.. PREDICTIONS FROM OUR ECONOMIC INTEL WILL NEVER FAIL INSHAA ALLAH.
We know companies and individual investors who were excited to travel to The Gambia to look into starting businesses there but have frozen all their activities for obvious reasons
Unfortunately our appeals for them to reconsider their decisions have fallen on deaf ears. Below is a complete report on their findings and what demotivated them!
REPORT FROM WITHIN
First priority for the major player among these companies whose exitememt has eroded, is media or to be more precise opening television stations.
Their fact finders said they knocked on a concrete wall. What did they find out? PURA according to findings has been asked to do a case study on company X. Based on those very facts they discovered that company X is believed to be the one identified to replace MGI,therefore will handle the gateway. Not Gamtel will handle the gate way as it was announced earlier on. Mark you those investors are composed of experts including MYSTERY SHOPPERS who operate at a more sophisticated level. Never attempt denying their version emotionally! During a meeting with some officials in Banjul they were told State House has asked PURA to study the case of company X with the intention of substituting MGI with the former.
Therefore why State House is being advised to back pedal and rethink their position as economic intelligence was equally able to capture that company X will be charging 3 times more than what MGI was charging.. Which means company X Will be charging 250 million Dalasis on a monthly basis. Worst of all if returns from the gateway cannot shoulder the bill government will dip into its pocket and pay the rest of it. A version ongoing investigations are pursuing vigorously because we will never allow such companies to suck the blood of the sufferer if they are found to be heading us towards that ditch.
Fact finders then said government is either not being correctly advised by PURA,or some.party somewhere is working in tandem with company X for personal interest and gain. We are yet to prove the latter but it should be seriously taken into account. Investigations have also come accross another version. WHICH IS, GAMTEL does not have the right equipment to maintain the gateway therefore why company X is being “invited” to replace MGI but it is yet to be finalized. Bear in mind that these fact finders are investors as well making it all the more unsavoury for a country that badly needs investment to restructure a shattered economy.
Another fact sheet has revealed that Stake holders of the media industry will regret it if they fail to stand up and be counted in light of the aforesaid. First challenge is that no tender was announced. Why is a global tender not on the agenda? A million dollar question we tax payers need answers for now not later.
As a matter of fact parliament should regulate the regulators and govern the governing on this now not later!
In fact this evening the stake holders referenced above went to State House to hold a meeting on this thorny issue. We cannot ascertain if the meeting took place but what we can say with certainty is that they went to State House per signals received from PURA.
What State House should clarify more is the contract replacing M G I and also why is a public and or a global tender not on the desks of PURA after M G I’ s license was revoked?
Investors who came to Gambia after nudging on these details are left with twisting heads and determined to take their flights. State House should TRUST BUT VERIFY ANY COMPANY RECOMMENDED TO THEM. FOR EXAMPLE BY AMBASSADORS AT LARGE, MINISTERS, PURA, or parties claiming to be close to the seat of power. Our team’s intention is to provide deeper details to State House from an independent angle. State House must be very careful when signing contracts with any company. Public confidence is eroding along those lines whether they agree with us on this or not let be rest assured that time will speak and vindicate us very soon as usual.Watch and see Inshaa Allah.
